Gained the status ‘Thane' working for Waltheof, Reeve for the ports of Mealcombe and Portlande. Has his hall in nearby Reapole. After Waltheof was killed in a skirmish, Thurstan took over the duties as port reeve, responsible for the taxes from merchants and traders. Also responsible for raising the local fyrdsmen and collecting taxes and tythes from the local villages and settlements. Gytha Widow of Waltheof, Daughter of Eadwulf of Hamton and Æthelfrida. Willed land-rights along the fleet, rich in reeds and wool, but this land is held in trust by Thurstan. Gytha's wealth was reduced after paying debts left by Waltheof. Sister-in-law to St. Wulfryth Abbess of Wilton , near Wincheaster. Took in the foundlings Eawyn, Matilda and Gad after the raid on Wych. Eawyn Of Wych. Offa the Carter Originally from the village of Ulverlei in Mercia on the Borders of the Danelaw. Left Mercia after his parents were either killed or taken by the Danes. Now lived in an unnamed hamlet to the east of the River Wey. Works as a carter and serves in the fyrd. Wulfgar Originally from Mercia , Ran away from his village at 15 after his parents where killed for heresy. Spent many years travelling selling his sword skills to the highest bidder whether within Ænglang, the Danelaw or even Kernow. Now a Huscarl in Thurstans Hall. |
