Portland is recorded in an Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as the site of the earliest Viking landing on mainland England in the year 789. #1

Alric :
Originally of Weldham. A Stonemason. Lives on Portlande. Supplies quarried and worked stone to Wincheaster and Abbodesbyrig.
Son of Hildagurd, a cook at the abbey in Weldham in the old kingdom of the east Saxons and Alfric, a boatman on the River Lea.
Has travelled thoughout Wessex and to Normandy whilst a journeyman mason. Holds the tally-sticks for Portlande and is responsible for mustering the fyrd on Portlande.

Wilfric Alricson :

Son of Alric

Dun the Bastard :
A churl from Portlande. Son of Frida, who lives in the Jutish settlement on the ‘Tophill’ part of Portlande. Unknown father, probable result of a danish raid on the Island. Works as a shore fisherman. Part of the Portlande fyrd. After killing two Danes during a skirmish, Dun was granted a sword from the re-captured plunder. Occassionally employed by Thurstan for tythe collection/escort duties.
